Roscommon is one of the 31 County and City Councils who collectively have on average a sectoral revenue spend of over €4 billion and capital spend in excess of €2 billion per annum. Local authorities employ over 28,000 staff or approximately 1/10th of total public service employment.   County Roscommon is centrally located in the heart of Ireland with a total population of 69,995 (Census 2022) and a wider population of over 300,000 within a 60km radius. Roscommon is bordered by 7 other counties and has a total land area of 2547 km². Roscommon is located two hours from Dublin and Shannon Airports and adjacent to Ireland West Airport, Knock.   The Council’s Revenue Budget for 2022 is €66.5 million. The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services, which can be broadly described under the headings of economic development, community development and the provision of physical and social infrastructure, recreation and amenity services and the enforcement of the planning and environmental regulatory framework.   An opportunity now exists in Roscommon County Council for experienced Senior Manager’s to play a leadership role as a Director of Service. Reporting to the Chief Executive, s/he will be responsible for policy implementation, service delivery and change management.   The successful candidate will have:   • A career record that demonstrates the necessary senior level leadership and management skills to manage, develop and motivate a large multidisciplinary team;   • Experience of managing change in a complex and dynamic environment;   • A significant record of achievement of results;   • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.    .
