Description

A Technical Manager for the Engineering Department is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Manufacturing company Client, who are based in County Roscommon. The Technical Manager has responsibility for the technical co-ordination and direction-setting of the company in accordance with the organisation's short and long-term goals. They will provide support to the sales function and works closely with the Manufacturing and Quality functions. Please contact Tom Devaney for more information. THE ROLE: * Build motivated, competent and results focused technical team, developing a culture of continuous improvement within the department, fostering cross-functional relationships. * Challenge the 'status quo' from a technical perspective. * Achieve key project deliverables (Cpk, cycle times, lead-time, margin % etc..) on time and within budget. * Development of new processes and products in line with company objectives. * Support the identification and securing of new opportunities, representing the company at trade shows and through regular visits to key customer targets. * Develop strong working relationships with customers and sales team. * Effective and efficient execution of project plans for new product and process introductions. * Understand current processes, taking a hands-on approach to understanding how these can be applied to new opportunities. Identify, develop and implement new processes. * Champion structured approach to problem solving within the organisation. * Deliver rolling program of capability improvement, differentiation, and innovation continually improving the Technology infrastructure based on significant business opportunities and market capability gap analysis. * Work with equipment and material vendors to mutually understand their and our technical process challenges, to improve capability and eliminate cost. * Play an active part in the quality management review process. * Ensure that manufacturing equipment and processes are documented in accordance with the quality system. REQUIREMENTS: * A primary Degree (L8) in Engineering or Science. - A postgraduate qualification in Science or Engineering is desirable. * The successful candidate should have a minimum of 7 years Medical Device/Pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics manufacturing experience including at least 4 years in a technical/ design and development role. * The Technical Manager should have a minimum of 3 years People Management, preferably with six sigma process experience of fostering a culture of pro-activity and problem resolution. * The Technical Manager is responsible for NPI Engineers and Technicians. The Technical Manager may delegate selected responsibilities to the Engineers or other staff, as appropriate. * Energetic and driven self-starter, with good communication and influencing skills and the ability to effectively simultaneously manage a wide range of diverse activities. * Must be commercial, understanding the revenue generating aspects of small business and the cost implications of providing technical solutions, in a timely manner. * Have an ability to work hands-on, with a solid engineering background, engaging with direct reports, cross-functional groups, equipment and material vendors to resolve technical issues. * The individual will have a good knowledge of the interventional catheter based device market and clinical applications. Ideally this person would have been involved in the design and development of interventional catheter at some point in their career. * Practical level-headed individual, who is prepared to actively participate as a member of the management team. * An experience project manager, setting realistic objectives and delivering. * Maintain a market presence, being available to support sales, from a technical perspective. * Provide value in customer meetings through proposing process solutions to manufacture catheters to meet customer design challenges.
